Work in Québec

For the 2017-2026 period, Québec will have to provide more than 1.4 million jobs, more than 20% of which will be filled by workers with a migrant background. This context is prompting more and more employers to turn to international recruitment of foreign workers or to hire workers with a migrant background.

Temporary jobs that need to be filled immediately

Presently, many employers are ready to hire foreign workers for temporary positions of six months to three years.

To hire the workers they need from abroad, Québec employers can participate in recruitment events. The Government of Quebec and its partners organize regular recruitment missions abroad, such as Journées Québec. All these events are listed in the section Come see us. Visit it regularly to be up-to-date with all information on recruitment activities. By participating in these activities, you could land a virtual or live interview that could lead to a job offer.

Once you have received and accepted a job offer, your employer will start the procedure with the Québec and Canadian governments to obtain the authorizations necessary for your hire and your stay in Québec.

After a while, your work experience in Québec will give you the opportunity to apply for permanent selection and then permanent residency so that you can live and work in Québec.

Here are some examples of fields where jobs could be available:

  • Administration
  • Hotels and restaurants
  • Manufacturing
  • Health
  • Information technology

Also find out about programs offered by the Canadian government through the International Experience Canada initiative to promote the hiring in Québec of young workers between the ages of 18 and 35. To see if you are eligible for these programs, consult the Work in Canada section of the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website.

If your profile meets the invitation criteria established by the Ministère, you may be invited to submit a permanent selection request.

The Ministère invites, as a priority, people whose profile meets Québec's needs and who show good integration potential. To find out about the invitation criteria, see the Invitations section.
