Choosing Québec

Do you have grand French plans?

Do you have a good knowledge of French and want to work and live in Québec? Get started now by submitting an expression of interest in immigrating to Québec.

The Minister regularly invites people who have expressed interest to apply for permanent selection through the Regular Skilled Worker Program.

An expression of interest is an opportunity to demonstrate that your profile meets needs in Québec and that you know enough French to immigrate to Québec.

How to express your interest in immigrating to Québec

  1. Create an account on the Arrima platform
    Go to Arrima
  2. Complete the expression of interest form to add your profile to the list of people who have expressed interest in permanently immigrating to Québec.

Make sure to mention your and your spouse’s level of French:

    - Include the results of your French tests. These tests must be approved by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (Ministry of Immigration, Frenchisation and Integration).

    - List all of your school diplomas beyond elementary school. Some high school diplomas are now accepted as proof of your knowledge of French and may translate to points, even if you do not mention any French test results. For further details, see the knowledge of French section of the guidance document for scoring invitation criteria.

If your profile meets the invitation criteria determined by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (Ministry of Immigration, Frenchisation and Integration), you may be invited to apply for permanent selection.

Maximize your chances of being invited

Completing an expression of interest is easy and free. You can complete it at any time.

Your profile will be assessed based on:

  • Your knowledge of French, as determined by test results and/or an approved high school diploma.

Knowledge of French is now required to be invited to apply for permanent selection. We highly recommend that you take a French test before filling out your information, even if you are francophone. While copies of the test results will be required at a future step in the immigration process, you may already list the results in your expression of interest.

If you have not taken a French test, but your high school diploma is approved by the Ministère (Ministry), you will receive points towards the knowledge of French criterion. For further details, see the knowledge of French section of the guidance document for scoring invitation criteria pour plus de détails.

  • Your professional experience and level of schooling.
  • Your field of training and experience in Québec, if applicable.
  • A few other criteria and information, such as information about your spouse who plans to immigrate with you.

The expression of interest is a dynamic tool. You may update it regularly.

To make sure you are considered during the invitation process, add a French test result and/or an approved high school diploma. For further details, see the knowledge of French section of the guidance document for scoring invitation criteria.

To get a higher score and increase your chances of invitation, consider adding, for example:

  • a new work experience
  • a new study diploma
